About Us

Tiny Tots Day Care Nurseries were founded in 1997 by Clare Sawkins and Nicola Harper, both highly experienced and qualified in child care and education.  The first nursery to open was the Malpas Road nursery in 1997 which caters for 48 children, shortly followed by Clytha Square nursery in 1999 catering for 60 children.  In May 2002 we were awarded the contract to provide nursery services at the University of Wales - Caerleon Campus.

Our nurseries are renown for their attention to detail and  extremely high standards.

All our nurseries boast large, secured, well equipped gardens, secure entrance halls, five base rooms, two sleep rooms, a messy play room, Jungle ball pool room, dining room/project room. Kitchen and four well planned changing/bathroom facilities.

Tiny Tots work in partnership as a training provider with local colleges who place NNEB students at our nurseries.

The genuine interest of your child’s (children’s) all round needs are paramount, outstanding childcare is provided in a well planned and equipped nursery by highly trained qualified staff who all hold appropriate and valid first aid certificates.

Care Standards Inspectorate of Wales (CSIW)

Tiny Tots are registered with for 48 children at our Malpas Road Nursery,60 children at our Clytha Square Nursery and 18 children at our on-site nursery within Caerleon Campus.

The entrances to our nurseries are locked and all outside areas are captured on CCTV. 

We all at Tiny Tots work as a team to pre set Policies and Procedures have achieved the coveted Investors in People standard Award (IiP) which is an independent recognition of our standard and the quality of our staff and their training.    We are the first nursery in Newport to achieve this standard and are very proud of this achievement.  This was first awarded in 1997 and we continue to be re-recognised for meeting these standards.

All relevant certificates and a list of our nursery team with their relevant qualifications are on display in the entrance hall for your attention.

The nursery operates in accordance with the Children’s Act (1989) and Care Standards Inspectorate of Wales (CSIW) requirements and we are an Equal Opportunities employer.

Tiny Tots team work to pre-set Policies and Procedures which ensures professionalism at all times.

Tiny Tots is the Demonstration Project for the Welsh Office - Under Five’s Initiative through Chwarae Teg (Fairplay), who only support high quality childcare.

We were the first nursery to open under the new  European Regulations so we proudly endorse all the latest recommended Safety and Fire systems.
